The Best Oscar Hairstyles of the Last Decade

The Best Oscar Hairstyles of the Last Decade

The Academy Awards showcases the best of the year’s films—and we think the red carpet does the same for celebrity hair. While we have to wait to see this year’s styles, in the spirit of nostalgia, we’ve picked our favorite Oscar hair looks from the past decade—and asked hairstylist Nathaniel Hawthorn how to re-create them at home.

The year Witherspoon won for her role as June Carter Cash in Walk the Line, her updo was strong but sweet—just like her character. To re-create it, spritz damp hair with texturizing spray, such as Paul Mitchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Texturizing Sea Spray; blow-dry using a diffuser attachment while scrunching sections with your fingers. Then rake hair back into a ponytail, allowing it to part naturally. Loosely twist random sections of the tail around its base and secure with bobby pins.
